Fundamental Wilderness Skills

This is where it all starts.

Whether your idea of “nature time” is a picnic in the park, or multi-day big-mountain climbing, our 4-week Fundamental Skills course is designed to teach you the skills of safety and comfort so you can begin reducing your dependency on gear, extending your time outdoors, and cultivating greater connection with the natural environment.

This foundational series is a prerequisite for our ongoing development groups. In just four sessions you’ll learn safety and survival skills to help you navigate the ever-changing natural environment with confidence, begin expanding your awareness, and finding deeper enjoyment in nature.

Open to individuals and families, areas of study include essential gear, risk assessment, dealing with hazards, effective plan making, not getting lost, attitudes of survival, shelter construction, water collection, fire building, basic first aid, self-sufficiency, sensory awareness, and more.
